An event for joint learning with a focus on the “Young Roma Educators” project is coming up, which the Trust for Social Achievement organizes under the initiative of the International Association “Step by Step” (MASS).
The event will take place between July 13-14 in the town of Lukovit, and we will be pleased to host representatives from several foreign organizations that are members of MASS, including Croatia, the Netherlands, Belgium and Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are eager to learn about our work on the Young Roma Educators project, as well as the successes and challenges we encounter along the way.
The MRP project aims to employ representatives from the Roma community in local kindergartens, thus creating role models for young children and providing opportunities for professional development of young people from the community.
The main goal is to overcome the shortage of teachers in kindergartens and to reduce unemployment among Roma in the municipalities of Gorna Oryahovitsa and Shumen. Six Roma youths are involved in the project, who will receive financial support for acquiring a pedagogical education. By the beginning of 2024, all Roma youth will start working in the kindergartens that are partners in the program.
The event will be held together with a parallel group of participants from the Young Roma Educators project, which includes graduates and post-graduate students, their professional mentors and directors in the kindergartens where they volunteer or already work. Participants will be included in a two-day training to prepare the children’s portfolio as a communication tool with parents and families.
In this sense, the joint learning event aims to promote the MRP project, broaden the participation of stakeholders and encourage dialogue on future horizons and cooperation.
